A Grama Panchayat is a collective body of elected representatives formed to carry out the administrative functions of Panchayat Raj Institutions. In a village, the Grama Panchayat serves as the primary governing body responsible for implementing the decisions of the Grama Sabha and managing the day-to-day administration and development activities of the Panchayat.The Grama Panchayat consists of several important components. The President is the head of the Panchayat who presides over meetings and supervises the overall functioning and administration. History of Grama Panchayat

Koruthodu was established in 1948 as part of a government food production scheme after World War II. Farmers migrated into the dense forest region near Sabarimala, cleared the land, and built a new life amidst severe hardships, wild animals, and isolation.
